iPad mini 6 in case by ESR Gear

The iPad Pro has been my absolute favorite Apple product. It has become what I dreamed for when I first use my iPad 2. Now, this new redesigned iPad mini has really caused a conundrum.

In the recent years, it seems like Apple has really pushed this concept of using your iPad as a computer, as your laptop. Ironically, they also seem to want it to be a companion device to your Mac computers. The point is, that I was trying to use my iPad Pro as a computer. I have the Magic Keyboard Case and everything. It works like a laptop in some cases, but it doesn’t fully give you the same functionality. Some things are easier to do on the iPad, and others are harder. Sometimes FRUSTRATINGLY harder.

Along the way, I forgot what the core of the iPad experience was like. It is a tablet, with a limited OS, that makes certain things more fun and enjoyable. Watching videos, browsing the web, shopping on Amazon, reading books, and video chatting. The power of a computer at your fingertips, but for the tasks you want to enjoy and relax while doing.

As a student, I loved using the iPad Pro for notes. The larger screen is great for that and really makes your student life a lot nicer. Now that I have graduated, I have found myself wondering how I will use the iPad. I like using it as a laptop replacement when I want to just use the computer for simple things. No matter what, something has felt off with it.

This is where the iPad mini 6 has really made me wonder…

Going from the iPad Pro 12.9" to the iPad mini 6 has been literally working with the opposite device. The weird thing is that I LOVE the small size. It really made me remember what the iPad was really made to do. I know that over time the function of tech evolves and progresses, but WOW has this experience been amazing.

The lightness of the iPad mini is refreshing and comfortable. Now when I see my iPad Pro, it feels like this humungous monitor-sized screen. Sure, I am exaggerating, but to some extent I am not.

The iPad mini will be a device that would work for you if you don’t want to do any productive type of work on it. It can be used for writing notes, but it won’t be the best experience at all. Content consumption, reading, browsing the web, and just having an ultra portable iPad will be the best use case.

The portability of this is amazing and the lightness is something I can’t get over coming from the iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard setup. I don’t know which setup I like more, but the iPad mini 6 is a switch I am really considering.

By switch, I mean to completely get rid of my iPad Pro 12.9" and downsize to the iPad mini 6 permanently. Even if I don’t go for the mini, I am strongly considering using the iPad Pro 11" instead. The Pro models do have advantages that I would notice, but at the end of the day, I am trying to answer the question: “Do I really need this? Should I get this?”

The overall experience with the mini seems to have lead me to really wanting a smaller iPad, but when it comes to what size, I have no idea.

In the end, I am rethinking my iPad choice and you should, too!
